The Discipline

Global Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary field that explores environmental problems through the lenses of various disciplines in the sciences as well as through the social sciences and the humanities. In other words, it equips students to understand not only the scientific basis but the political, cultural, and moral implications of environmental degradation and risk. It also explores these challenges in local and international contexts.

Career Opportunities

Global Environmental Studies is an ideal minor for students who wish to develop communication skills and critical thinking and writing about the environment. These skills will serve students well who wish to go into a variety of careers related to the environment, including business, law, public health, public policy, non-profit work, and education and will prepare them to be environmental leaders.
